JULIE CARVER

Executive Director

Julie brings to The Dominguez Dream a unique blend of education and nonprofit experience.

After graduating from Notre Dame Law School, she began working in the business sector combining her legal training with her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Communication. During her undergraduate years at Pepperdine she was active in intercollegiate debate and served as Assistant Debate Coach while receiving her Masters. In graduate school Julie also worked as a freelance researcher and reporter for USA Today covering the O.J. Simpson trial.

In the positions of Account Executive, Strategic Business Manager and Director of Operations Julie acquired extensive experience in marketing, operations, project/program management, strategic planning, and budgeting.

Although she enjoyed her work in the business sector, Julie’s passion is education.  She returned to Pepperdine as an Adjunct Professor and taught public speaking and communication research.

In 2005, she took a position as Assistant Director of Forensics and Public Debate and Full Time Lecturer at the University of Southern California.  In this position, she taught in the Annenberg School, coached novice debaters and organized on campus and rivalry debates—including one with Notre Dame in South Bend.

When the Principal position at her alma mater opened up, Julie took the opportunity to move into Catholic school administration and served as President/Principal at Ursuline High School.  In this role she oversaw academics, business and fundraising.

When the Sisters closed the school to open a charter, Julie then landed in the Diocese of Sacramento as an Assistant Superintendent.  This was a newly created role in a new model of governance whose objective was to keep Catholic schools open by managing the operations and board so that principals could focus on academics.

In her most recent position as Development and Donor Services Director at PRIDE Industries Julie raised funds to create jobs for people with disabilities.

Julie is excited to combine her love of education and fundraising experience to serve underserved youth at The Dominguez Dream.

She lives in Woodland, CA and serves as Vice President of The Notre Dame Club of Sacramento.
