Success Stories

Students from a school receiving support through the Dominguez Dream Academy’s NexGen Steam Program had the chance to take their learning beyond the classroom during a field trip to the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity. During the Design Challenge, students explored wind energy, created their own sail cars, and tested their designs in a wind tunnel. Fifth grader Alina especially enjoyed the animal drawing station. “That one was my favorite,” she said with a smile. The trip brought science to life in a way that made it fun, meaningful, and full of possibilities.

At one of our partner schools, students are making major progress in math. With help from the Dominguez Dream Academy NextGen STEAM Program, the Reveal Math program was introduced, and in just six months, the number of students performing at or above grade level tripled. A teacher called the program “an absolute blessing,” sharing that it helped students gain a deeper understanding while staying actively engaged. With the right tools and the right environment, students are showing what they are truly capable of.

Reveal Math Momentum

At a school supported by a recent Dominguez Dream Academy grant, science lessons look and feel different now. A newly adopted classroom series STEAM Survivors came with hands-on materials and lab tools that turned everyday lessons into real experiments.

One teacher described a clear shift in student engagement. “They’re more curious, more involved, and excited to try new things.” With the right support and supplies, students are not just learning about science. They are actively exploring it.

STEAM Nights Sparking Connections

At a recent Family STEAM Night, one of our partner schools used the Dominguez Dream’s STEAM Events Toolkit to create hands-on stations that got students and families engaged.

Students proudly shared their projects, and two parents were so inspired they signed up to volunteer. The event sparked curiosity and built stronger connections between families and learning.
